NOTE: The Drivetrain codes below represent how the Corvairs were originally ordered, based on information to date. Stage II & Stage III cars could have received different engine numbers or axle ratios than shown below.
The 3.89 Ring & Pinion COPO option was ordered on 50 of the 1966 Stingers, and on all 1967 Stingers. It is believed the the first 50 1966 cars ordered received the 3.55 gears.
This would mean that Fisher Body Numbers higher than approximately 2750 would have been ordered with 3.89 gears. Remember that what was factory-ordered and what was utimately sold could vary.
